Job Details

The Rig Equipment Manager oversees the maintenance, repair, and operation of all equipment on a drilling rig, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. They manage personnel, develop procedures, and maintain records related to equipment and operations. 
 
Key Responsibilities of a Rig Equipment Manager:
  • Equipment Management:
    • Supervising the maintenance, repair, and operation of all rig equipment. 
       
    • Developing and implementing equipment inspection protocols and maintenance schedules. 
       
    • Ensuring equipment is in optimal working condition and meets safety standards. 
       
    • Managing inventory and procurement of spare parts and supplies. 
       
    • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and coordinating repairs. 
       
  • Personnel Management:
    • Supervising and coordinating the activities of rig personnel. 
       
    • Providing training on equipment operation and safety procedures. 
       
    • Ensuring personnel comply with safety regulations and company policies. 
       
    • Recommending personnel actions like hiring and promotions. 
       
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Overseeing the daily operations of the drilling rig. 
       
    • Ensuring drilling operations adhere to regulatory standards and company policies. 
       
    • Coordinating with other departments and stakeholders. 
       
    • Preparing production and other reports. 
       
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforcing strict safety protocols and conducting regular safety meetings. 
       
    • Ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental regulations. 
       
    • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions. 
       
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintaining accurate records of drilling progress, maintenance, and incidents. 
       
    • Preparing and submitting reports to upper management. 
       
    • Creating and maintaining documentation on equipment maintenance and operation procedures. 
       
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of drilling operations, equipment maintenance, and safety regulations. 
     
  • Management Skills: Leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. 
     
  • Experience: Several years of experience in drilling operations and equipment management. 
     
  • Safety Certifications: Relevant safety certifications like H2S and first aid. 
     
  • Education: A relevant degree or vocational training in the oil and gas industry is often preferred.
